Exercise your Rights! Stand up for yourself. You pay your
insurance company & your medical professionals, so don’t let them brush off
your issues or concerns. You have a right to be a part of the decisions for
your health. You have a right to get a second opinion. You have a right to file
a complaint against bad services rendered towards you.
Don’t let just anyone come into your room, speak gibberish to you & leave out. They have a right to make sure you understand everything they tell you. You have a right to understand your medical issues and concerns before they leave you. If you expect bad news, or you just don’t know what they are saying, take a trusted family member or friend with you to your appointment.
Just as if you were in a business to receive a service, your medical professionals are the businesses you service. Even with your insurance companies, you pay them so don’t accept piss poor service.
People PLEASE ACCOMPANY YOUR ELDERLY FAMILY MEMBERS TO THEIR APPOINTMENTS. They don’t always hear everything said to them or they might forget. Make yourself known to all of their medical professionals, in case of an emergency they know who you are, and you can receive the information about their care. Help them get their final affairs in order. People wait until it’s too late to make sure their affairs are in order. It’s hard to grieve and handle affairs for the loved one you lost.
Know your rights. Don’t leave if you don’t understand your treatment or your medication and how to properly take it. When going to new doctors tell them all of your medical issues and the medications you take. You can only hurt yourself by lying.
Remember I LOVE YOU!!!
