Baby! Baby!

Auntie Oprah owes me nothing. I was blessed to be gifted a ticket to Oprah’s 2020 Vision: Your life in focus tour. I left State Farm Arena feeling energetic, empowered, & invigorated. She lit the fire back up in me.

Lately, I have been tired & have little to no energy. I honestly need to have my butt back in the gym or on a regular exercise routine, but I can’t find the energy to make myself go. So, I was not feeling my best as I have been battling a low-grade cold all week but I felt like being in that building might give me the ump I need to start back attacking my dreams & goals. I bundled up & battled the cold weather & traffic to see what I could learn.

From the opening act with Daybreaker to get our energy up & blood flowing to the closing with Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, I got my whole life. Daybreaker is a phenomenal group of dancers, singers, & musicians who got us to align our energy so that we were open to receiving all that was in alignment for us yesterday. You can follow them on Instagram @dybrkr. Tamela Mann performed Take me to the King & took us to church fast. Oprah came in between the acts giving us knowledge of her life’s history, her battle with her weight throughout her life, how her career took off & she became the one calling the shots & life after The Oprah Winfrey show. We were served a complimentary lunch from Panera bread. Mind you I thought this was going to be a 2-3-hour session. I was glad I was wrong. After lunch, another awesome group came out to help us work off the itis by helping us connect our energy with the elements of Earth. I loved their Kinrgy which just so happens to be the name of the group. You can follow them on Instagram @kinrgy.

Now my favorite part of the program was her interview at the end with Dwayne ’The Rock’ Johnson. Yasss!!! I love The Rock. Hearing his views on love & family was very interesting. Most men don't like to talk about the sensitive stuff, but The Rock let us in. Especially since he just recently buried his father a former professional wrestler, Rocky Johnson. He shared with us his childhood life lessons to the lessons he's instilling in his three daughters. He talked about why his first marriage wasn't right & how he is currently married to the love of his life. If more men were open to sharing what's really going on with them, we could help heal each other.

Overall, I am glad I was able to attend Oprah's 2020 vision tour. My takeaway message was to make sure my mind, body, & spirit are in alignment with each other. I learned to listen more to Kennedi & make decisions based on my purpose & life intentions. WW (formerly called Weight Watchers) couldn’t have chosen a better person for the wellness tour. If the tour is coming to a city near you it's well worth the money to purchase a ticket.

Remember I LOVE YOU!!!!!
Glowing!

This workbook was a fabulous addition to the activities for the day!

The Rock gives Oprah a bottle of Tequila from his new upcoming Spirit company. Oprah loves Tequila!

I was asked to answer a table topic question. Table Topics is an impromptu question given to you by the Table Topics Master. You have 1-2 minutes to answer the question with a 30 second grace period. My first time being called on for Table Topics I was so nervous and shaking in my shoes.     I signed up for my Pathway & set out to start my Toastmaster journey. My first Pathway was Leadership Development. I gave my first speech which was an icebreaker to my club on December 7, 2019, titled, "Who is Kennedi?"     Listen to it below...

I get ideas, and I run with them. Many times, without doing the proper research before executing the vision. After battling depression over my HIV diagnosis, I decided to be a public HIV Advocate. What made me decide to do this? I told myself it was to assist young black women like myself not to feel alone or ashamed because we live with HIV. Once I came out to my family and friends with my status, they were very supportive.     One day my cousin sent me an event advertising an upcoming women's group, Toastmaster club. Before this, I had seen Toastmasters advertisements and video clips, but I was always scared to go. I have a very warm, friendly personality, but if I was put on a stage and the room was quiet, I FROZE UP. The people that know me are shaking their heads like not you, Kennedi. Yes, it's true. I knew that I needed to improve my general speaking skills if I wanted be a public advocate. I had a fabulous time, and that night I joined Toastmasters...

Disability Pride Month

Disability Pride Month is celebrated annually in July to honor people with disabilities and their contributions to society. As of 2024, at the tender age of 37, I am living with two chronic diseases. I'm grateful to God that I wake up each day. On my worst days, I wonder why me, Lord. Then I look back, remember what He’s already brought me through, and thank Him. Let’s all remember that not all disabilities look the same. One of my nieces saw my handicap sticker on my table and asked who was handicapped. I explained to her that not all disabilities are people in wheelchairs or visible to the naked eye. I battle with being an advocate for my new disability because I feel like I'm too young to be going through all I'm currently going through. Then, I must stop and remind myself that God still has me here for a reason. I pray that my presence helps someone else continue to fight and push through whatever they are going through. Remember, we are not alone. I'm grateful to m...
